Ascent Trip ReportThe storm that hit most of the country a few days prior left some snow in some ditches in the panhandle but the highpoint field was snow-free. I was coming from the north and used Edward Earl's route from cohp.org. Starkey Road is unmarked from Road E but the reported mileage is spot on. Starkey is marked where it hits Road G to the south.
The corrals that mark the road off of County Line Road are obvious. I parked at the second pump and took off into the (harvested) cornfield to the south, which is both unfenced and unposted. I spent a fair amount of time wandering the field south of both pumps. I scared a well-hidden pheasant, which proceeded to scare me.
