Ascent Trip Report

*GUESSING ON ELEVATION LISTED FOR TURN AROUND. At the base of the main couloir to ascend.

Mounty trip led by Matty P with basics. Approach was long with little snow and lots of bushwacking slide alder uphill with a creek. Weather was decent on way in.

Just after dinner the rain came in. All went to bed with plan to rise at 5am. One elected to stay in camp next morning and not attempt.

Rained all night.

5am - totally socked in and wet. Slept more.

Around 6am seemed better. Got ready and started out by 7am (I think, writing this end of July). At this time the fog was coming back in.

Snow conditions were not great. Matt was postholing up to his waist. Traversed around to get into the main couloir to ascend and decided to turn around. Crossed over a slough. Evidence of slides and conditions were very wet.

Returned to camp and practiced crevasse rescue! Heard numerous numerous slides while doing so.

Started raining again as we packed up camp and was off and on for the hike out.

Had dinner with Matt, Andrea and ? at Skagit River Brewing on the way home.

One of my first turn arounds on a climb.
