Ascent Trip Report

July 10-12 with Ben Still. Hiked in Friday 11am - 6:30pm in overcast. Saturday left camp in clouds at 6:00am. Blue Glacier snow free, easy walking. Snow dome bare rock, easy hiking. Transition to upper glacier started raining hard, cloudy. Navigated with GPS to close to Crystal Pass. Then cleared to base of summit tower. Ben made quick work of the 80' north face pitch placing 2 cams. I followed then quickly set up the rap. Our short 130' glacier rope made it to just below the crux and we downclimbed the last 25' to the snow.

2 other rope teams of 4 and 5 left before us at 4:30. We passed them on the scramble up Snow Dome. They were at the false summit when we hiked back down. Weather turned for the worse right after we pulled our rap rope. The other two groups headed down shortly after us without making the top. We got lucky with the weather.

Hiked out Sunday 6:15am - 2:45pm. An hour longer than the hike in. Long slow and painful 17.5 miles out in spitting rain.
