Ascent Trip ReportDelilah and i were supposed to meet a GMC group for a "dog friendly" hike to Mansfield, but my car couldn't make it up snowy Mountain Rd. We headed to Camel's Hump instead, finding Camel's Hump Rd plowed. i had actually planned to summit Ethan Allen instead, having already done Camel's hump, but was talked into the Hump by some descending hikers at the trail junction. a small group had headed up that way and was breaking trail, so we followed the tracks. we caught up with a woman (who turned around shortly after) and two men, and broke some trail with them. i was impressed at delilah's ability to follow the snowed-over trail. it was too much for her though; between pushing through belly-deep snow and the absurd wind on the summit, she seemed fatigued as we headed back down. we were running out of daylight as well, so we booked it back to the car asap. still ended up wearing the headlamp for an hour.
