Ascent Trip Report

Today we did a nice loop hike of Pharaoh from Crane Pond to the Long Swing Trail - West Shore trail to the summit and back down via Glidden Marsh. The lower loop to the junction with the summit trail is very low topo gain and it goes through some great woods and along a few very nice marsh areas. The summit trail was fun as always and slick with all of the heavy rains. The trail from the summit back down via Glidden Marsh is steep at the top and similar to an ADK High Peak trail with the rocks and roots but quickly evens out to a nice slow topo loss trail with nice woods. The busy Holiday weekend and the recent heavy rains meant we were parking out by the road but the walk in is nice as well. Basic 4WD can get down to Crane if there haven't been a lot of rains.
