Ascent Trip Report

I drove up the road in the Right Fork of Georgetown Canyon 2.4 miles before I was stopped by a fallen tree. It appeared others had driven over it, but I didn't want to risk a blown tire so I opted to make this my trailhead. The road even to this point was in pretty rough shape. Mostly due to a great deal of deep standing and flowing water and sections of slick, slick mud. There were numerous sections that I did not look forward to on the drive out.

I got to this point in the road at about 10 pm after leaving Salt Lake that evening and threw my sleeping bag in the bed of my truck and camped out there. I was up and hiking by a little after 5:30 am and followed the road 1.4 miles to its end and continued on an abandoned ATV track for .25 mile before heading off cross country up the steep slope to the ridge. I was on top about an hour and a half after I started and enjoyed a nice early morning summit for about a half hour. Really enjoyable hike up on a crisp, cool morning. Awesome views from the top out towards Diamond Peak to the north and Bonneville Peak to the West.
