Ascent Trip Report

I parked in the nearest cul-de-sac off of Simsbury Dr.. It was bordered by the woods I wanted to enter, and a half built home. There was other construction equipment parked in the cul-de-sac., although none of it looked recently used and the house did not appear to have recent work done on it. I entered the woods on a trail that obviously saw much ATV use. i initially went the wrong way off of the trail - east instead of west in search of the high point - but my GPS straightened me out. After a short, but semi difficult bushwhack, I arrived near the given coordinates, and they appeared true. As I was ready to depart, I saw something out of the corner of my eye - low and behold, it was a "witness" sign for an actual benchmark from the USGS. Wow - for a meager 210 foot county highpoint. Cool. Took a picture. I truly was in the middle of a bushwhack from whatever direction one would approach. It would be very difficult to locate without a GPS. One state HP (DE) and three county HP's in one day. Not bad.
Mext day: I just learned that I need to cisit another area to bag this highpoint. Will update when complete.
Today, 12-20-08, I visited the 2nd area required to "bag" Camden County, on Tenby Chase Drive, at house # 14 - front lawn. I was considering knocking on the front door, but I was in a rush. I did a quick walk up the lawn to high landscaped area and returned to my car to continue my XMAS shopping.
