Shadow and I drove up on Saturday night and camped in the car at the trialhead. Pathfinder Pete and Munkay Grrl arrived a couple of hours after us and set-up their three-season tent. The road in was not plowed and while we made it no problem others had a difficult time making it to the trialhead. Temperatures probably dipped below zero overnight - it was a robust seven degrees when we woke up. We took advantage of the car and got changed in the heat (and heated seats too). Spruce bought a bunch of blaze organe stuff (hats, vests, and gloves) so we didn't get shot by hunters. There was about 4 inches of snow at the trailhead and snowdrifts of about 24 inches up on the trail. There weren't many steep sections and the trail to the shelter was a nice gradual ascent. We had lunch at the shelter and then headed off to grab the summits. The trail to the shelter was relatively easy to follow - there wasn't that much snow and the blazes were frequent. Travel along the Long Trail was a little more difficult - the snow drifts covered the trail and the trees were covered with snow, obscuring the blazes. There were no views from either of the summits - a true peakbagger trip.
