Ascent Trip ReportThis is a fun hike. Lots of elevation gain on a moderate trail from near the shore of Lake Tahoe to almost 10,000 feet. The first part of the hike from the Tallac Trailhead is through open forest and passes some nice little ponds. The views up the slopes are impressive, especially early on. Once we broke out of the forest, it's a lot of scree walking and rock hopping up the steepest part of the trail, but as screewalks go, this one is pretty stable - good trail. The ridge walk is a great one, with fantastic views in every direction. Spent a little while eating lunch on the summit in the sun. Even on a cold November day this was a popular route.
