Ascent Trip Report

The very last north facing section (the right gully, which is the standard route) of the climb was very icy and since not everybody brought crampons we decided to climb the rock instead. The rock was partially icy, crumbly, had no good hand holds and had lots of loose rock. Although there are numerous trip reports warning that any other route can lead to a class 4-5 rock scramble with exposure we still decided to check out an alternate route for our down climb. We left the summit block at its most southern point and found an easy and snow free way down heading west. It was primarily class 2 with some class 3 with good rock and hand holds. The route is very obvious when descending. The snow pack was disturbingly low. The parking lot at Hurricane Ridge and the surrounding exposed meadows had no snow.
