Ascent Trip Report

About 13 degrees out - not sure if that qualifies as "frigid". Light snow falling; maybe 2 inches total on the ground. Came in from the south on Greene County Route 3; parked just below the big white "No Trespassing...Private Land...No Access to Top of Mountain" sign. Followed 3 (it becomes a woods road) up to the hunting cabin, made a right (south-southeast) and followed the herd path along the private/park line (blue & yellow paint on the trees) to the summit of Vly. Pretty easy cannister to find. Then back down to 3 and on to Bearpen - through the parking area for the hunting cabin. Followed atv/woods trails for most of the way. Couple of switchbacks; there's a cairn on the right-hand side, at which point we turned into the woods for a short bushwack. Popped back out at another cairn on the side of another atv/woods trail and followed that to the summit of Bearpen (no cannister). Good directions from
