Ascent Trip Report

I took the day off from work, and decided to go for Griffith Peak. It was quite an experience- I didn't see another person until well on my way down. The Charleston Peak South Loop trail is easy to follow, though often the ground is very rocky. Once at the trail junction, the trail to the summit of Griffith Peak started off easy enough, but soon there was an unmarked junction. I chose the less steep trail to the right. It probably was for the best, though I did need to go off trail to get the summit. Taking the direct route back it was much steeper, so I'm glad I made that mistake. At the summit, there was absolutely no wind, and the birds and insects had evidently left for the winter, so there was absolute silence - awesome!
