Ascent Trip Report

Like Blue Mounds, this is also a Wisconsin State Park with a good paved road to the top of a locally significant peak. The charge is the same, $7/$10 in-state/out of state. For me, the gate area was unmanned, as it had been yesterday at Blue Mounds. I didn’t have $10 in cash on me, but since I had bought a $10 state park pass yesterday, less than 24 hours ago, I figured that it might still be good, put it on my dash, and went up anyway.

The main peak has a nice observation tower of the exact same type as the two on Blue Mounds. I did the short hike via ski trails to the south peak, 2 feet lower according to LIDAR, and bushwhacked around to make sure I tagged, it, too. That added only about 10 minutes to my stay. I was time-constrained today and could not do more hikes in this nice area.
