Ascent Trip ReportI left home at 4h10 hours for Heart Lake in the ADKs .... the goal a bushwack to Marshall.
I left Heart lake on the Indian Pass trail, full of mud, started to have snow on the ground when I neared Rocky Falls and at the cutoff to Marshall the accumulation was 3-4" ..... a light rain started to fall. I was following a set of fresh tracks and I was sure they were also headed to Marshall.
At the Iroquois/Marshall Col the tracks did turn right for the trail-less Marshall. While taking a breather a guy walked out completely soaked, he didn't make it and recommended I not proceed. The trees were full of snow and water. He has 30-4000 footers. I decided to abort, we hiked out together as the light rain turned to snow.
Once out at the TH we drove straight home, it was snowing.
