Ascent Trip Report

I traveled with friends to Maine's highest peak, and found the drive to be the crux of the climb. After 8 hours of travel time, cheap pizza and other unmentionables, we set camp in Baxter State Park. Up early the next day, and we followed the relatively straight forward Abol Slide, a very rocky and boulder-infested route. Halfway up the weather turned cold and rainy, and we were passing ill-prepared hikers along the route. We finally summitted in full clouds, and decended without incident. A longer but rewarding hike.
