Ascent of Mount Sherrill on 2008-10-11| Date: | Saturday, October 11, 2008 | | Ascent Type: | Successful Summit Attained | | Peak: | Mount Sherrill | | Location: | USA-New York | | Elevation: | 3540 ft / 1078 m |
Ascent Trip ReportStarted at the Spruceton Rd. terminus of the Devil's Path at 7:30. Follwed the Devil's Path into Mink Hollow then bushwhacked up the east face of North Dome; reached the summit around 9:30. I found the 3500 Club canister without too much difficulty, then took a bearing to the summit of Mount Sherrill. Reached the summit of Mount Sherrill around 11:15 and had to look around a bit for the canister. Followed Bennett Brook down to the West Kill and hiked back to the terminus of the Devil's Path along Spruceton Road.
The weather was absolutely perfect - not a cloud in the sky. The leaves were at their peak... possibly the most beautiful day I have spent in the Catskills.
