Ascent Trip ReportThis was my second attempt at this mountain, and I came out unprepared for single digit temperatures and massive amounts of snow. Shit - this is New Mexico, it supposed to be warm and dry, right? Wrong. We got off trail almost immediately and followed a snowmobile trail to the treeline, and the weather turned nasty. Almost complete white out conditions, so we decided to camp. As we were clearing a site, we heard a large machine - turned out it was a trail-groomer. The guy was very cool and prepared us a campsite! Awoke the next day and found even more snow and cold - unbelievable. This had happened to me once before, the last time in October of 1999. So, we decided to pack it in and on the way down, we were met by the strangest guy on a snowmobile, telling us he owned the mountain and to go back. Its fucking whiteout conditions and this cowboy decides to cop an attitude! After some skillful negotiation by my friend, we gained safe passage and decended - must have been -10 and windy.
