Ascent Trip Report

This summit was more challenging than expected, with a few pretty tough scrambles that were probably harder (and more fun) than they needed to be. The descent to Crater Lake was particularly long with a fair amount of shifty talus.

Extra gain on ascent includes 200' along trail to Norway Pass (first night camp), 300' over/around mini-summit to the east of Red Mtn East, and 250' over Red Mtn East. Extra gain on descent includes route/trail to Crater Lake and scouting for tent sites. The exposed scrambling was all on east side (ascent).
