Ascent Trip Report

Long drive from southern NH to grab the two fire towers off of route 3. We arrived early at Prospect and the gate does not open until 10am so we walked up the road to the tower. Along the way at the second lookout parking spot was a magnificent view with the fog in the valleys and the mountain peaks sticking out. This tower is made of stone and was not open but we came back by it on the way home and drove up the access road so we could climb the tower.
the second tower was Magalloway and it is at the end of 8 miles of dirt road but the road was in pretty good shape so my small car made it ok. Seemed everyone that was there was going up the Coot trail so we decided to climb the Bobcat trail (this is a foot trail through the woods) and came down the Coot trail (this is a four wheeler trail). The views were fantastic here also and there is short trail that leads to some lookout spots that are basically on the edge of a cliff. (great stuff)
During this trip my son also picked up 4 Geocaches near the towers.
