|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Location:||USA-New York|
| Elevation:||3140 ft / 957 m|
Ascent Trip ReportA very popular and interesting easy hike up a gravel road. The TH and parking in on the right across Budhist temple on road from the Village of Woodstock (about 1.5 miles N of rte 212 in Village center).
Half a mile before the summit you can explore the ruins of the old Overlook Mountain Hotel, one of the great Catskill Mountain Resorts dating back to the early 1800s. Behind the ruins is a Transmission Tower. The Fire Tower is in good condition and a small museum in the Fire Warden's cabin makes this interesting climb very enjoyable and educational. Local volunteers are on the summit to greet you every weekend, from mid-April to October.
