Ascent Trip Report

Continuing my quest of finding the highest point of each state park. This one is on the eastern border of the park. It takes a few dirt roads to get there. In Dorrington, take Border Crossings Road, which is paved all the way until you come to the Stanislaus River and a picnic area. A very short distance later will be a dirt road to your right which is Forest Road 5N02, Hells Half Acre Road. Take this south and work away in an array of roads. The goal is to find 5N03. A map and/or GPS is paramount. Some switch backs up the ridge and look for 5N46X. That will take you to a fence with a barb wire gate. Walk the road for about a quarter of a mile until you see the crest of the land. I put a teepee there of flat wood and sticks with three rocks underneath. Who knows how long that will be there. . Enjoy the journey as it is beautiful in this area. I also live a in Arnold, so I expect a visit and I will provide you a cold beer and a meal.
