Ascent Trip ReportSugar, Peishan and I hiked South Crocker, Redington, and North Crocker Saturday June 28th, 2014. We used the following information to plan our hike:
We parked in the parking lot 5 miles back Caribou Valley Road right before the metal bridge. We walked about a quarter mile to the AT. The AT is not very well marked. There is a small cairn now marking the trial on the West side of the road. About 100 feet up this trial you will find the first sign marking the trial. We started up the trial at 8:20am. At 9:04 we arrived at the Crocker Cirque campsite. We continued up the mountain and passed a hiker making his way up. We arrive at the summit right at 10:00am. There is a view point where someone cut down a bunch of trees with views towards Sugarloaf and Spauling. We snapped a couple pictures and then continued on to Redington. The trial is not maintained and is very overgrown in some sections. The hike down South Crocker is ok. The trail dumps you out on an old road and you hike this for about 200 meters and there is a small cairn on the side marking the trail up Redington. The hike up Redington is very easy with gradual elevation gain the entire way. We passed to hikers with machetes bushwhacking their way back down Redington. We made it to the top at 11:02am. We ate lunch and looked around for the White Canister. We found it to the East of the cleaning and signed in. On the way back down Redington we missed our trail and continued down a main trail to a nice cross country ski trail. We backtracked about a half mile to our trail and made it back over to South Crocker arriving at 1:26pm. We continued over to North Crocker arriving at 2:08pm. North Crocker has no views. There is a small path leading West that provides some limited views. We made our way back to South Crocker and then back to our car arriving at 4:41pm. We had a great hike. We found a couple silver AT Benchmark markers during the hike.
