Ascent Trip ReportWe drove from Bennington to Under Hill State Park. We arrived at the park around 3:00 PM. By 3:30 PM we were trailbound. The day was beautiful. The hiking party was myself, Jake Weiss, his german shepherd puppy Penny, Alexander, Rowan, Charles and Samuel Thompson. We used the Sunset Ridge Trail and proceeded and a moderate pace up the mountain. We reached the peak at just before 6:00 pm we rested at the top for about twenty minutes enjoying the view. It was spoiled a bit by people going onto restricted Alpine areas. The descent was pleasant though Alex's knee was bothering him a bit and Penny was not use to climbing on rocks. Could not have asked for better weather. The two other times I have hiked this mountain were from the other side on the Hell Brook Trail and if my 22 year old memories were correct the Sunset Ridge Trail was easier though still fairly steep. Though I could not have asked for better weather or views. Excellent views of the Adirondacks, and the rest of the Green Mountains.
