Ascent of Hadley Mountain on 2008-09-20| Date: | Saturday, September 20, 2008 | | Ascent Type: | Successful Summit Attained | | Peak: | Hadley Mountain | | Location: | USA-New York | | Elevation: | 2680 ft / 816 m |
Ascent Trip ReportAccess to the TH at a parking area on Tower road is from Hadley NY - go north on Stony Creek road for 3 miles, left on Hadley Hill road for 4 miles, right on Tower road for about 1 1/2 miles to the parking area on your left.
The trail climbs moderately, with a lot of bare rock surface - most of the top soil has been eroded away. Its a short easy climb to a beautifull open summit with great views. A climb to the top of the restored Fire Tower rewards you with a 360 degree panorama, the abandoned Fire Warden cabin is just below the summit.
The mountain is mostly deciduous vegetation so ideal time to visit this summit would be mid-October.
