Ascent Trip Report

We started out on the Hancock NOtch Trail right across the hairpin turn off of the Kancamagus Highway. From here it met up with the Cedar Brook Trail and then eventually got onto the Hancck Loop trail. This brought us over to the only challenging part of the hike which was the .7 miles (very steep, my guess would be 80% of the total vertical climb oif the hike) to the North Hancock peak where we had a pretty great view (only 180 degrees) out to a whole other slew of mountains which we though may have ben Owls head and such (but to be honest we never took out a compass to determine which way we were facing for sure). Then there was a very simple easy jaunt over to the south peak, which in all honesty was a pretty shielded view, where we enjoyed our lunch. From there out we finished on th eloop and went down the way we came in. The down was relatively simple as was the whole hike in general. The whole thing told took us five hours rather than the six book time gave. It could have been less had we ommitted the time at the peak. Overall a pleasent very easy hike.
