Ascent Trip ReportThe road up the ridge south of Sonoma Creek is rough and steep, but if one can handle it, one can choose how much one wants to hike. We had plans for Mount Tobin later in the day, so we gave ourselves about 1,000' of gain, and had quite an enjoyable hike.
The summit looks quite impressive from the south with tough, steep boulders, but there's a way around to the east where one can reach the summit staying on class 2 terrain (I had a bit of class 3 for fun).
Great views from the summit. I'm surprised more locals don't make their way up this one given the proximity to Winnemucca.
