Ascent Trip Report

TH: Corner of Pleasantridge Dr. and Rubio Vista Rd in Altadena, LA.

1:10 Summated Echo Mountain. We walked for a little over a half mile to explore more before turning around and going back across the summit.

The trail leading to the summit and its ruins is marked with a orange flagging or faded-red (pink) and white striped flagging. Its a very beautiful and easy trail. Once you get over the ridge its easy to forget your just out side the city and started on a neighborhood road. Lush greenery and flowers.

After ducking under a water pipe (and being careful not to walk into one) the trail splits. Go LEFT. Going right goes down into the Canyon where there is a waterfall. Although we didn't explore it on this day. I read about it and you could hear it as long as you where not on the city side of the ridge.

After a long series of cutbacks you'll reach the summit. Some people went straight up through the cut backs and you can see where they went. Some of these straight cuts have lose dirt footing.

Picnic area at the summit and areas to eat and read about the area's history. If you have kids, be sure to go to the megaphone facing the canyons to hear some great echos.

Hiked with Uncle Fred.

11/50 new mountains for 2014.
