Ascent Trip Report

Picked the car up at 11am and drove from Lanark to The Flatt in very hard rain. In fact even whilst putting gear on the rain did not let up. However as soon as we set out it settled down to be just a fine mist which lasted for the whole walk. Parked at the Flatt were there was ample parking. Took the forest track for about 3 miles then as the track turned sharply downhill took a forest ride for 200m to the edge of the forest. We then followed the fence steeply uphill until a hurdle gate was reached. The whole climb so far had been in mist/cloud, so wit the summit 3/4 of a mile to the east the GPS was used to traverse the moor. On the top was the old trig lying on its side with a new one erected next door. The way down was exactly the same as the way up.
