Ascent Trip ReportDriving back into Germany from the Czech republic I found the picturesque village of Waltersdorf without difficulty. Turning off the road into the Hauptstrasse, I just kept driving, and soon exited the other side of the village on a road which obviously led up the hill to a hotel (Hubertushaus), where I cuold park without difficulty. The track to the summit from there was steep zigzags, well marked, leading easily to the artifically levelled summit area. Two old men were discussing a fence which apparently used to separate the two countries across the slopes, and several stone border markers were in evidence. Various viewing indicators and signs on top were duplicated on each side of the divide, each in the single language of the country. Views were getting hazy in the afternoon but would normally be rather good since the hill is steep on most sides and surrounded by lower valleys.
