Ascent Trip Report

I started at the Batavia Kill PA, and followed the red Black Dome trail for 0.5 miles to a L on the yellow Batavia Kill trail. I followed this for 0.8 miles to a R on the blue Escarpment trail, which I followed for 0.8 miles to the summit of Blackhead.

From Blackhead, I followed the Blackhead trail down to the col (Lockwood Gap) and ascended the red trail to the summit of Black Dome and then on to Thomas Cole. I then returned to Lockwood Gap and descended the red trail to the PA.

All told, tis hike was around 7 miles with 2500' of gain, and was completed in a bit less than 4 hours at a verrrrry leisurely pace (I've been down for 6 weeks with back trouble, so I took it easy and used this as a tune-up hike...).

The summit of Thomas Cole is not on the trail, it is 100 metres or so to the north of the trail in some thick brush, and about 20-30' higher than the trail. None of the summits are marked.
