Ascent Trip Report

DAY #16 (SEPT 28) .... TATOPANI(1190M) TO GALESHOR(870M) .... 6(81.5) hours, 14(155)km.

"Bhaat khanu-boyo .... how are you."

We left Tatopani, after signing-in at the police check point, and cross the Kali Gandaki river to the eastside (left). Shortly after the bridge over the tributary, Ghara Khola River, there is a ACAP check point.
After 2 hours of trekking we took a break at a tea house in Tiplyang, with my Aussie friends, where the trail crosses the Kali Gandaki River (fast flowing) back to the westside (right).

Today's route is in a very tight valley with sheer cliffs, at places the trail is cut into rock faces, numerous landslides.
Past a number of Mule Trains and animal herds to market today, and perhaps the biggest differences between the Annapurna Circuit's two superb Valleys.

Raj checked us in at Ocean Hotel in Galeshor, the Aussies arriving before us .... a Florida looking facility, electricity in this valley, where available, keeps having consistent power outages. Water is rarely available during the day.

I sort wish that tomorrow wasn't our last day, I really loved this trip's experience/interaction with the culture. One of the things that I have retained because of this trip ..... I did away with my after-shave lotion at the beginning of this trek in order to reduce weight, as a result I intend to stop using it all together, the locals here don't use it. ..... our use is perhaps more of a cultural/capitalist custom.
