Ascent Trip Report

Took the high level route to the base of Pillar Rock. The view at Robinson's cairn halfway along the route gave the first and probably best look at Pillar Rock. The walk into the base was exciting enough. Lunch was taken at the base of the Jordan Gap after which we donned climbing clear. The route 'Slab and Notch' was taken slowly with full rope protection and was actually quite enjoyable. The top of the rock left plenty of room for looking at the views and taking photos.

Abseiled for the first time ever, off Pillar rock into the Jordon Gap. A great experience but a safety rope was used. After taking off the climbing gear we took the good but steep path to the summit of Pillar itself. From the top there was good views north, however to the south the cloud was lapping at the head of Mosedale.
