Ascent Trip Report

The gate around point 1 was locked and too many people around to stealth climb a fence. I found a driveway and yard on the east end of the fence. No one was home so I scampered along the east fence. Although it is impossible to really determine, the highest spot along the east fence may be the highest remaining natural ground. The berm just inside the fence was clearly built up, by the looks of it by several feet. The area along the fence is higher than the bottom of the berm (although we're probably talking inches here).

My GPS altimeter readings were fluctuating all day and may be completely inaccurate, but I got consistently higher readings in the area of the liner on Shenandoah Rd. Looking closely at the topo maps makes this plausible. The city line comes very close to the 1200 foot contour interval, while the one near the filtration plant looks like it barely clears 1180. I don't consider any of this definitive, but if there is ever a Lidar analysis of the two points I'll be surprised if Shenandoah Ave. isn't higher.
