Ascent Trip Report

Stone Mountain Park is in my opinion one of the most beautifull unique parks, in all of NA, because of its main attraction the bare "Stone Mountain". A unique Granite Dome claimed by some to be the largest exposed bare "Stone" in the world. Without the "Stone" the park would be just another park. Atlanta is very fortunate to have this jewel in their backyard.

The enormous bas-relief on its north side, the size of 3 football fields, is reportedly to be the largest in the world. The 3 carved figures of the Confederate States of America - Stonewall Jackson, Robert Lee and Jefferson Davis - is must see for anyone. All my peakbagger friends need to put this "Stone" on top of their priority list.

I probably would have never had the pleasure of enjoying this "Stone" if not for my son and his family's move to Atlanta. I'm glad they found this place.

My son's whole family, Michael and Celine and their 3 children Patrick, Brice and Emilie together with my wife Rose and I enjoyed this "Stone" for the first time today. Their fourth/eldest son, Marcus, ran a school cross-country race this morning and was committed to the team for the rest of the day.
We followed the hike with a delicious picnic lunch prepared by Celine.
