Ascent Trip Report

Started 3 am. and got to Chasm Lake area near dawn. Did the Loft route. Got to Meeker's summit block at 8 am. (5 hrs. up). Went to climb Longs and found it amazing.. Route finding was a bit of a chore and a couple of spots on the downclimb were tricky... Saw Clark's Arrow. Met some neat people. Of note: if one were to take the first couloir down and meet up with the Keplinger's Coulour to ascend, you would bypass much of the difficuly in the downclimb of the upper route (with of course a sacrifice of the shorter route.) Meeker and Longs combo was tough. Day was beautiful. Returned by the Keyhole route. Nice tour de Meeker and Longs.. Returned to trailhead at 5 pm. 14 hour round trip of probably 15 miles and around 5700 ft elevation.. Make sure to do this in August and to make sure all the snow is off the ledges on the Loft Couloir and areas on the west side of Longs.
