Ascent Trip Report

Took road up from observatory after dark, arrived late after viewing lava flow from vent on s.e. corner of Big Island. Clear skies with plenty of stars out. Weather below 8000 was wet and cloudy. Had wife Kristi and three daughters in car. My oldest Amber braved the 30mph winds and 35 degree temp for the walk to the summit. Truly enjoyable to summit with her. She said there was no air and didnt like the cold but was a real trooper and braved it to the top. Shooting stars and clear skies were wonderful to see.
