Ascent Trip ReportThe road to get to the peak, whether from San Jose or I-5, is the most challenging part of getting this summit.
While there is a gate blocking the minor road that goes toward the summit, if you read the signs on the gate (and ignore the other signs), it appears the road is closed to unauthorized *vehicles*, and it is implied that a right to enter, on foot, is granted (technically it says the right may be revoked at any time, but why include that if the right isn't given at present?)
The "lookout" is unique, at least in my experience, as it is built atop a water tank. Even when the lookout is closed, one can get some nice views from the water tank.
