Ascent Trip ReportI was going to head home with my friend Sam for a couple days, we thought about hiking this the other day but we didn't get the chance. It was 10 Am when we decided that we were going to try this hike, we got to the mountain around 12, so we had 4 1/2 hours of daylight. I took a look at the map and it told me that they estimate RT a 3 hr trip in the summer. We dressed warm and headed for the summit, I had a set of poles and a pair of microspikes. I knew it would be icy near the top, so I gave Sam the microspikes and I took the poles, we made it pretty easy until the second stream crossing near the view spot. Near the top it began to get a bit gusty and was close to sub zero temps. Once we got to the summit sign I insisted we shouldn't stay long at the top because of the wind and cold weather. Once we came up over the ridge and around that corner Sam finished her first 4,000 footer in her career. Where this goes from here is up to her, but ill tell you... t felt good to have somebody with me. Coming down just nearby the summit sign I took a nasty digger onto the ice. I thought for sure I had broken my leg, but I shook it off and carried on. We took it slow from then on and made it down to the base again. It took 4 hours and 10 mins total which was good for the winter. I was proud that Sam finished and it was a good hike overall.
