Ascent Trip ReportVaune and I drove from Lakewood, leaving REI at 230pm. US285 to US24, south to Salida turnoff, then West on US50 to Gunnison, then south on CO 149 to Lake City, a very beautiful drive. Just south of Lake City turn west at San Cristopol reservoir along a paved road maybe 8 miles, then a good gravel road until intersection near Sherman townsite. Road was passable from here, but several rocky spots. Made it to the trailhead 830ish and erected the tent in waning light. Nice informal campsites here, with 2 nice outhouses.
