Ascent Trip ReportWe drove from the Halcott parking lot to the north end of Route 3, near Jager Road, to make our approach in true peak bagger form. I once again underestimated these two mountains, thinking them to be quick jaunts up and down off of an old dirt road. The climb up that old dirt road had me tired out as it was much steeper than anything I recalled. We took the trail to the left just to the north of the tar cabin that is well marked and easy to see in the beginning. The rain began, which made the slushy snow that was melting from the warm winter day, even more messy and foot drenching. The unmaintained trail had already been broken for us and we made quick work of getting up and down off of the mountain. The rain and wind and lack of any views made the summit undesirable, so we signed in quickly and then headed straight back to the tar cabin.
