Ascent of Burro Peak on 2008-07-15| Date: | Tuesday, July 15, 2008 | | Ascent Type: | Successful Summit Attained | | Motorized Transport to Trailhead: | 4x4 Vehicle | | Peak: | Burro Peak | | Location: | USA-New Mexico | | Elevation: | 8020 ft / 2444 m |
Ascent Trip ReportI don't think the CDT is as mapped. Nonetheless, it starts from the road to Jack's Peak and it ends up on Burro after a somewhat more switchbacky meandering but still brief route. Several candidate clusters of rocks amongst the trees compete for the HP status. The BM is easily found.
The roads here are a bit sandy and high clearance would probably be a good idea though I think you can get by with 2WD. The road goes through and crosses several washes so you would clearly want to avoid it during and after any rains.
