Ascent Trip Report

After visiting Bucknell University, Lehigh University, and Boston College, it was time to head home to Chicago. We headed west on 90, but pulled off at Lee, MA to head south by way of Great Barrington and S. Egremont. Missed the turn and momentarily crossed into NY and turned around and found it easily. The trail and parking area were easy to find as the road is closed this time of year and the barricade is at the state line. Walked the bit back to the trailhead and started out. The trail is marked very well with red blazes. It gets a little steep early, but not too bad. We lost the blazes for a bit at the top of Round, but found the trail after a little bushwack through the bushes. Got to the top of Frissell and then scooted over to the state line for #33. Got back down quickly--all told about an hour and fifteen minutes. Stopped at Niagara and had the mist freeze on our coats as we watched the falls. Snowy drive home.
