Ascent Trip ReportWe took the Gale River Trail, planning to tag both South Twin and Galehead. The new section of Gale River bypasses two water crossings. The loamy section was muddy, but largely free of the rocks that cover most of the rest of this trail. This section was clearly marked with blue blazes, but the rest of Gale River was not well marked. The steep .8 mile Twinway to South Twin covered with dark ice under snow and frozen flow and the going was slower than we anticipated, with several stops to put on and take off ice cleats with the ever changing terrain. We descended from South Twin and stopped at Galehead hut (closed) but saved Galehead for another day because we had already reached turnaround time.
