Ascent Trip Report

Plattsburgh State Outing Club trip after we slept at Petra Cliffs rock climbing gym and watched the Real Rock Film Tour followed by many hours of climbing in the gym the previous day.

We started at the Underhill State Park and took the Laura Cowles Trail (2.3 miles) to the summit. It was steep and wet. We decided to take the Sunset Ridge Trail (3.3 miles) down because it would be less steep and easier on our knees. It was a cloudy day and we didn't get good views till we where half way done descending the above tree line portion of Sunset Ridge. Lots of people there. Easy hike.

From Underhill Center take the Pleasant Valley Road about a mile north, then take the Mountain Road to its end at the state park. There is a closed gate with a hiker on it and no signs. At first we thought we made a mistake.

Ascended with Matt Griswold, Lucas, Alexa and Brenon.
