Ascent Trip ReportReturn trip to Galehead with Dick and Brian. First snow hike of the season. Took the Gale River trail up and back. We had light snow for almost the whole trip. We bare-booted up to the hut, then put on microspikes for the assault on Galehead. Kept them on until we hit the "flats" about halfway down. It was in the low 30s making for comfortable hiking, but once we left the trees and arrived at the hut, the wind really got me cold. We left our packs at the hut and ran up to Galehead and back, but did take some time to enjoy the overlook. Now I'm looking forward to winter hiking. Great day, easy hike, lots of white.
