Ascent Trip Report

This was a very enjoyable hike, with was much more scenic that one would otherwise guess. It has numerous beautiful sandstone cliffs and some nice formations including hoodoos.

To get to the trailhead, take Weepah Springs Road north from 318. This is a surprisingly well maintained road up to the point where the road re-combines after it divides. At that point, it gets quite rough, but only is only about 1/4 mile from the wilderness boundary. While the road is generally great (by dirt standards) there are a few rough washes that would give low-clearance vehicles some challenges.

From the trailhead, take the old road to the right of the hill on the left to avoid some unnecessary gain. Beyond that, it's just a matter of making for the main drainage going up the slope. At a point it gets very rocky, but keeping to the right of the drainage allows one to avoid most of the rock hopping.
