Ascent Trip Report

There are several approaches to Rabun Bald, we took the easiest since we were just looking for a short day hike to the top. After driving through Sky Valley we parked at the end of the road at Beegum Gap. There is a trail and a gated 4WD 'road' from the parking area, we stuck to the trail, which joined up with the Bartram Trail after several minutes. We followed the Bartram Trail to the top, and enjoyed the view from the lookout tower before descending. The total trip time was only about 2.5 hours, and although there were some switchbacks near the top, the hike was not particularly strenuous.
