Ascent Trip Report

Up Nineteen Mile Brook trail, filled up on water at Carter Notch. Steep climb up Carter Dome, nice little view. Over to Mt Hight, which although not a 4000 ft'er it has by far the nicest views on the ridge, with the ability to see all of the peaks on the traverse. South, Middle and North Carter were uneventful. North Carter to Imp Shelter has VERY steep sections requiring some tricky hand and footwork on the ledges coming down, especially since they were wet. Got to Imp Shelter at dark. Just the 3 of us, a solo AT hiker, and a couple section hiking. Stayed in the leanto due to the threat of rain. Place was extremely nice. Only a small view from a bench further down. Good location to collect and filter water. Nice bogs and ledge views on the way to Moriah. Quite the crowd at the top. Hiked down the Carter-Moriah Trail in the rain, making many of the ledges quite slippery.
