Ascent Trip Report

Parked at end of Rt 3 opposite the snowplow turnaround. Walked up dirt road which has a moderate incline until we got to the hunter's cabin,(which was occupied with a generator running the whole time we were on the mountains)and made the right and up towards Vly's summit. The trail there is fairly well defined and marked by blue blazes, and we only veered off of it a few times, but it was easy enought to get back on. Found the canister easily, and within an hour or so of leaving the car. Retraced back to the hunters cabin, and walked past and onto snowmobile trail. We prematurely veered off of snowmobile trail onto what we thought was the "faint herd trail", but ended up in brambles, ferns and stickers for what seemd like a half mile. Finally found another trail and got back to the Snowmobile track and reached the summit of Bearpen. Awesome views and a beautiful day. Lots of flies however!
