Ascent Trip ReportAfter a late start (about 5 P.M.), I completed a quick loop hike of Butter Hill and Storm King Mountain beginning from the Route 9W trailhead. What a stellar short hike! The first views emerge after 10-15 minutes of climbing (those from Butter Hill) and consistently interesting vistas emerge over the course of the hike. Those north towards a nearby bridge and railroad tracks are quite poetic...
Be aware that--despite frequenct blazes--a number of trails cross and recross your path if you attempt this loop.
